A cultural academy of Sattriya dance, Nartan Kala Niketan was established in the year 1987 by Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Sri Ramkrishna Talukdar. The institution has various courses covering the pure dances, abhinaya pieces choreographed by the guru and also different aspects of Performing Arts. The gurus of this institution, Sri Ramkrishna Talukdar and Rumi Talukdar has made major contribution in projecting and popularizing Sattriya dance and music as well as imparting intensive training to artistes both from India and abroad.
Nartan Kala Niketan with its branches in and outside Assam also organizes workshops and seminars from time to time. The institution follows the Guru Sishya parampara and celebrates “Guru Purnima” every year with cultural programmes and other activities.
